Ordinary Residence requires that an individual has been physically living in Malta for a period of three months or more and is currently working in Malta or is able to financially support himself and his family.

Any EU and EEA or third country national residing in Malta for a period of more than three months is required to obtain a permit from the competent authorities in Malta.

You are eligible to apply for the Malta Ordinary Residence Scheme when you fulfill the following requirements:

Ordinary Residence in Malta requires you to not physically stay in any other jurisdiction for more than 183 days per calendar year.

In case of financial independence, employment, opening a business or for studying, residency may be granted to EU/EEA nationals.
For non-EU nationals the application will be approved subject to the possibility of conditions and restrictions imposed at the discretion of the authorities.
